A Sunny Day Out with ONESEC Eyewear
Who loves shooting on a bright sunny day? I do! Having sensitive eyes, sunglasses are a must-have in my camera bag. However, I often face a challenge when looking through the viewfinder: the tint of the sunglasses alters the true colors of the scene. This discrepancy can be distracting, especially when I’m capturing landscapes featuring seas, clouds, or any scene with layers of colors and light shades. It makes it tough to determine the actual hues I’m working with.
A good friend of mine suggested I try ONESEC Eyewear and so I took it out with me to test them out. The first, obvious feature is that it is really instant. As soon as I stepped into the sunlight, the lenses darkened instantly in response. The great thing is that the tint also fades away just as quickly when the surroundings become dimmer! The tint activates as soon as light hits the sensor (which sits subtly in the middle of the bridge between the two eyepieces). Use TAHUSA10 at checkout to enjoy 10% off discount.
Real Colors, Real Comfort
So while scouting for the shots I want, the polarized electrochromic lenses not only protect my eyes from the harsh sunlight but also enhance the views before me, making it easier to identify potential photographs, then when I point and look through the frame for the shot, the blockage of light triggered the tint on the lens to clear instantly, allowing me to see the true colors and details through my camera without any distortion (just as I would with naked eyes).
The instant switch back and forth between tinted and clear states ensured that the shades never distracted me from the real hues of my environment! That said, there are certain situations, like walking through the outdoor wet markets in Hong Kong, where the light contrast from shaded areas under manual retractable awnings to open spaces can cause very frequent tint switching. This might not be the most comfortable experience to the eyes.
The frames are also very light making it comfortable to have on for the whole day. The great thing is, they offer a variety of cool and fashionable series to match the look you want. Their limited edition crossover with McLaren Vision back in 2020 was a hit!

Advanced Protection
These glasses are equipped with patented electrochromic technology and offer a 99% filtration efficiency for UVA and UVB rays, providing robust protection against harmful radiation, a common concern for photographers during long days spent outdoors.
Overall, my experience with the ONESEC Eyewear has been positive. Their rapid response to changing light conditions is a smart feature for photographers. My drone-flying friends, in particular, have mentioned that it works really well for them. They often need to look up at the sky when capturing landscapes, and then quickly look down at their screens to check views, and find that these glasses manage these transitions smoothly.
Final notes: For those who are right-handed and aim with their right eye, the instant switch might not happen as the light source is not blocked by the camera body like it is for those who aim with their left eye. The instant shade switch might also cause nausea for those sensitive to motion sickness, so it might not be suitable for everyone. Do your own research and choose as you see fit.
